Inspired by LLink’s note on the 07, I decided to order this off the menu at brunch. It’s doesn’t have the quite the amount of coche matchstick as one would like but neither does the 06 Coche bottling. This bottle does have very nice acidity and ripe fruit. Starts off ready to go but also a little dull like the 06 Coche Meursault we opened a few months ago in a lineup of 98, 04, 06, and 11. Not quite as oaky if memory serves me rightZ The 06 Coche bottling improved after 2 hours while his did not. On day 2 it actually becomes a little more balanced and reminds me more of Roulot than Coche.

Reductive and backward to start when initially coravin'ed. Set aside for 20+ minutes, at which point lots of lush and ripe orchard fruit came through with excellent concentration, sweet spice hints and wonderful balance. This couldn't be mistaken for coming from anything other than a very ripe vintage, but shows enough energy to maintain balance, even if not incredibly complex.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Charming floral start, clearly showing ripe 2006 character but lots of depth as well. Ripe stone fruit flavors, well supported with lots of concentration and power, with great energy on finish with moderate length.

From magnum - this wine could not escape its vintage, it is heavy and ponderous, not exciting - fine, no better. (Bistro)
