  • Well built wine, still drinking great. Getting more silky. Leans towards blackberry/boysenberry. I thought there was just a hint too much green bell pepper or else this would have been 94. This is ready to drink and should drink at this level for another 1-2 years.

  • Blackberry, boysenberry, leather; full, voluminous, voluptuous, long, developed, enduring, excellent

  • Served as the first wine with dinner and a small gathering of friends (grilled flank steak marinated in olive oil, red wine, brown sugar, dijon mustard, shallots and garlic, served with crumbled blue cheese). Dark purple in color, no signs of fading at the edge. Tannins are remarkably smooth and soft. The wine has a rich and smooth mouthfeel..drinking well now and I see no reason why it shouldn’t stay at this level for another 2 years at least.

  • This is pretty good, really good, solid Stags Leap. Is it the best? No which is a bit disappointing for their flagship offering. It ranks high though and was it worth every penny we spent 10 years ago? Absolutely.

The approach isn’t overpowering like a lot of todays fruit bombs and hints of dark berries and fruits. Initial pallete was full of black current, Crème de Cassis, and some slight mineralogy. Long legs complicated integrated and smooth tanins. There was however some alcohol burn on the backside that lowered our rating a bit. with a very slight burn on the backside (alcohol).

2010 Napa is supposed to be past peak and only an 89. While that may be the case for the average wine, this one is cellar worthy, at least to this point.

  • With beautiful dark fruit and svelte tannins, this reminds me of a bigger version of a Bressler cab. Really good right now. I’m happy to say that Steve Tanzer’s 10-year retrospective note didn’t do this wine justice...the recent CT notes are much more accurate.
