  • IMHO this is way too youg still. Opened a few hours before drinking.
First nose was nicely fruit-forward with quite intense raspberry, unusual for the appellation. Alcohol already very present. Mouth is quite massive, big tannins and too much alcohol for me. Must wait a few years, maybe try to open it 24h before or use a carafe. Impressive length thoug.

  • CDP redemption night at Maison Dakota. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl 1855.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of sweet spice, blackberries, black cherries, black plum, black pepper, black olives, underlying grilled meat. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidty, structured high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of black plum, blackberries, black cherries, grilled meat, black olive, black pepper. Long finish.
Very good quality. Quite classic CdP. Feels young at the moment. Hold for a few more years for more development.
Hmm felt like there was Syrah, but actually there isn't. Probably the 20% Mourvedre talking.
    70% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 5% Counoise and 5% Cinsault.
On limestone and quartz soil in the Mont Redon lieu-dit.

  • Not quite ready for prime time CDP but you sense the stuffing, refinement, and quality goods are all accounted for. Still primary fruit on the nose/palate with medium grip to the tannin. This will be luscious in 5 years if you can keep them horizontal.

  • Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2010 - Check-up on 20 Top names; 4/1/2013-3/18/2016: Deep purple. Discrete nose of raspberry, red currant, violets and fruit compote. Hits the palate with a medium-full body with present buy silky tannins. Acidity is very present as well. Very clean and refined, aromas a bit muted at this point of time. Softer and more caressing than the Trois Sources. Rather closed now but will be great. I dont recommend drinking this before 2018.
