Sparkling, medium saturation salmon color. Nose is dominated by the CO2 with some yeastiness coming through. Initial palate is all strawberry and sweet honeysuckle but this changes into citrus, grapefruit, and even lemon with a astringent and surprisingly long finish. Not a lot of depth, but you wouldn't expect that from a sparking rose. This is a perfect fill-in for a lemon-lime soda if you want more to be more mature and sophisticated. Perfect sipper for a hot day. Would be great with BBQ. Plan to serve another bottle later today with Mexican food.

So much fun: lightweight, red, dry, acidic fizz. What's not to love? Not a wine to contemplate overmuch, but hell of fun and a great bottle for a hot summer's day with some BBQ.

No frills, acid-driven fizz made biodynamically in Touraine from an equal blend of Malbec (had no idea this was planted in the Loire) and Gamay. Nice, understated cherrystone flavours on the finish but the overriding impression is one of astringency. Would be OK served ice-cold at a summer BBQ but rather out of its depth for £13, no matter how noble its planet-saving intentions may be.
