  • From 75cl, perfect cork, P+P. This cloyingly (as opposed to nobly) sweet wine was adequate as a foil for seared foie gras, later for bitter roast chicory in fat gruyère sauce. On its own it was contourless, emolient and a bit disgusting; the Mr. Blobby of the wine world, the much maligned designation "Grand Cru" counting for even less here than it does in St. Émilion (which sure is saying something). 83–84P

  • From 75cl, excellent cork. Exactly as recorded on 15.07.2015 and 13.07.2018, just another few years older and even more flabby. Saved by a very hot Thai green curry, to which this provided an inoffensive, emollient counterpoint. As soon as the chillies were off the plate and in our stomachs there was no reason or incentive to persist with this wine. 83-84P

  • From 75cl, perfect cork. Sweet, thick, slightly oily PG. The long finish will appeal to fans of sweet PG. 84-85P

  • From 75cl, good cork. For the positive, dazzled-in-the-winery-tasting-room report, see my TN of 30.07.2014. My sober, at-home-drinking-from-my-standard-glass report is less flattering. Sweetish (think Rheingau Spätlese), heavy, sultry and unctuous, this is to wine as Chanel No. 5 is to perfume —from another age, where men were gentlemen, women were ladies and white wine was sweet, musky, sweaty and intended to be drunk out of little crystal glasses. There must be somebody out there who actually likes sweetish Pinot Gris, and that person will enjoy this more than I do. 85-87P(?) Update 24 hours later: This has acquired a nasty scent of latex and tastes of tropical fruit juice served in a decaying bicycle tyre. I think this is undrinkable. If you must, then P+P and serve as cold as possible.

  • Alsace, mostly Riesling; 7/30/2014-7/31/2014 (Alsace): Wide open, rolling scent (caramel, dried pineapple, truffled foie gras); big fat passion fruit and pineapple taste. 14% alc. Declared as dry (2), tastes medium sweet (3). Great future ahead. 24 EUR at cellar door. 91P
