Decanted for over one hour. It was earthy and had dark tobacco and current notes. Paired very well with cheeses and opened to be a wonderful experience. Think it’s close to end drink date maybe one more year or so at most. Very very good

Started this out with an hour and a half decant before starting in on it, which in hindsight was not nearly enough time. The nose was hot and closed down to begin with but with a couple of extra hours of air time dark fruit and sweet tobacco arrived in the glass. The palate started off closed down as well, with grippy tannins and biting acidity covering up the fruit. As the air worked its way on this wine the tannins dropped to a more fined grained level and the acidity mellowed, allowing the merlot in the blend to present itself more fully, with the cab franc coming into play as well. Dark fruit, cedar and tobacco teased their way out of the glass and made this a much more enjoyable experience than it looked like it was going to be. Lesson learned yet again: give this style of wine a lot more bottle time in the cellar or several hours of air time for it to fully express itself.

Great fruit, well integrated tannins with tastes that continue to linger. Love this wine and look forward to how it matures
