I am a fan of the Montesecondo Chianti and this was the first time I've tried the Rosso. Shawn mentioned this was mainly raised in tank. The wine takes a bit to open. Darker, plum like fruit and licorice, warm, ripe feeling to it. Finishes with substantial tannin. A big structure for a Rosso. I guess I was expecting something along the lines of Montevertine Pian del Ciampolo which is a much lighter, airy style. The Montesecondo is very good, and likely will benefit from aging a few years. If drinking now a short decant and food with some fat to go with the tannin is key.

Bright cherry comes alive in the glass. A perfect, cellar defending, second bottle. A bit of red apple on the nose with an earthy finish. Bold but not overbearing, tart fruit. This is not a wine to be studied academically. A pleasant next step following dinner.

Tasting of Foradori and Montesecondo with Elisabetta Foradori and Silvio Messana (San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Light ruby color. Light cherry aromatics. Light to medium weight. Fluid and supple. Nice interplay of red fruits and pine needles. Easygoing, forward, no tannin to speak of. Enjoyable quaffer.

Short note from memory.
Fresh sangiovese with lots of cherry fruit. Lively acidity and supporting tannins. Decent length.
Simple, straight forward, fruity and easy drinking wine with decent back bone. Nice.

Very light, lots of fruit in the taste. Very much strawberry-tase.
