1/26/2013 12:48:00 PM - Marc what date do you have for that Bouchard 04? I thought this was an '02 that I brought, but I could be mistaken. I transcribed this off scrap paper notes accumulated from years past. I thought it was the 02. Anyways, keep in mind my tolerance for oak is much higher than yours, so view my note through that prism.

1/15/2013 10:51:00 AM - I confess, I'm really disorganized. Only got the gumption to sign up here in Dec 2012. Entering some of my old notes of more notable wines and tastings only now. I should have a better handle of what I have, but I need to set aside some time to do it. Maybe I'll get there.

11/28/2012 10:34:00 AM - Hi Mard d - Thanks for the note on the Roagna - I am of the mindset that I'd rather drink early than young. I think now, given the vintage, is a good time to drink. It is dropping it's fruit but the tannins are huge so it can hang on but I would hate to wait. I lived in Piedmont for the past three months and was lucky enough to try an amazing spectrum of wines dating to the 80s. A lot of wines were dead; no fruit but the tannins were still pretty intense so I am leery about aging wine for really long periods of time. Vigna Rinoda is such a beautiful site and there truly is something special about those wines. I am also pretty sure Roagna no longer farms that site, as the winemaker Tomasso Canale passed away and Davide Rosso of Giovanni Rosso bequeathed the vineyard (distant uncle or some weird thing) so maybe you do want to hold on for sentimental value. In my opinion, Roagna made some of the best wines in 2003 from an otherwise mediocre vintage. All my other 03s are falling apart. Hope that helps and sorry that was so long winded. Best, Jack O'Briend
