A well-cellared bottle with no hint of oxidation. Only the diminished fruit keys the age. Toasted marshmallow and heat on the nose. On the palate, buttered popcorn on buttered toast with a twist of lemon and a plop of applesauce. Plenty of sweet French oak left on a soft, soft profile but fortunately less heat than the nose. Perhaps a touch of RS. The wine has life and can't be called flabby, but it's insipid. There's no mineral or secondary tones to speak of. It's a lick of an old drag queen's caked-on makeup, but some would still enjoy its perversity. I warmed up to it a little, but I won't be in the mood for a Chard again for many, many months.

Seemed really muted initally out of the gate and possibly a bit oxidized. Letting it sit for awhile opened things up but it still seems pretyt oaky. I think these things need to be drunk young but I have some older ones I need to try and can comment on that at a later date.
