  • Drinking really well. Has some smoked meats and freshly tilled earth smells. The fruits are red and decidedly crunchy. It is just mid-weight but has excellent intensity. There's minerally detail and good cut to the persistent finish.

  • Hit me up with a freshly peeled laughing cow triangle at first, then lacked any intensity or elegance. Still very tight, maybe it's too young or needs a decent, or maybe I'm just miserable sometimes

  • Actually, given its status and its age, this should be scored higher. Absolutely amazing what an almost 20 year old Villages can deliver. Beautiful and translucent ruby. Not a huge nose. But in the mouth! Sweet pinot - earthy vegetables like beetroot and dark mushrooms, some tart cherry and cranberry notes, hints of incense and smoke. Great acidity and good length. Lingers like an autumnal bonfire.
This is why Burgundy and PN create fanatics. OK, it does start to fade after a few hours but this is, in effect, quite a cheap wine. But outstanding value.

  • Little change in past year. Lovely deep ruby, fading to edge. Not a great deal on the nose but big enough in the mouth. Lovely earthy pinot, lots of serious black fruits, bit of beetroot. Still clear tannin structure though smooth now. Decent length. Honest burgundy at a very light price.
