Pleasant enough, but lacking in the depth desired from a Ribera del Duero. Opened up after a few hours, but still not what I'd hoped for. Nonetheless, it has classic fruit with subdued tannins and subtle tobacco undertones, which made for a pleasant quaff. I'd give it medium aging qualities, so don't let it go too long (2018).
Dark purple color turning violet at the rim with perfumed floral aromas with hints of dark fruit, espresso and tobacco leaf. The palate is lifted, intense, concentrated with a plush textural feel on ripe, luscious berries, cassis, earth and toasted vanilla from the oak barrels. Finishes long with lively acidity and silky tannin. Drink now with 30 minutes decanting until 2021.
