  • (April 2019) Enjoyed with a caramelized apple tarte tatin. The nose on this is simply divine! Candied lemon and orange peel, lychee and rose.

Palate: a suggestion of caramel/butterscotch along with candied citrus. Smooth and balanced, could perhaps use a touch more acidity.

(December 2019 edit) Well, this turned out to be my wine of the year, receiving the highest point score outright, as well as being terrific value for money. Wish I had bought more when it was still available.

  • Honestly, how do you pair this gorgeous wine with any food? My wife accidentally opened this V.T. thinking it was a dry ZH to pair with chicken curry. I had to buy an Amish Blue Cheese the next day to see how it will work. Made in heaven.
I tend to drink my V.T. & SGN older (esp. ZH wines), to "melt the baby fat" (sugar). Layers of preserved tropical fruits on the palate, with a certain saltiness and honey aftertaste. The typical gewurzt aromatics (rose or jasmine) are but a whiff. Drink as an aperitif or after-dinner with a salty blue cheese. Outstanding !

  • Trialto Old World Classics Tasting: Very nice nose of candied mango and pineapple, baked apples, lychee, and rose petals. Palate is very sweet, moderately viscous with a long pineapple finish carried on plenty of acid. My preference is usually for something just a tad more viscus, but the quality and complexity here is outstanding, especially for the price.
