This wine is drinking purrfectly. Wow. I find it a challenge to catch the better Lewellings at their peak drinking window. I am delighted I saved this bottle so long - it was worth the self-restraint.

Nose of brett and earth and minerals. I know that means complexity but it just means rustic and old to me. After the initial nose there was very nice flavor and a smooth finish.

Decanted for almost 2 hours. Initial nose of minerals blew off to reveal creme de cassis and tobacco. In the mouth black cherry, currants and a thick, smooth texture. A very ripe but balanced valley floor cab. In a really good drinking window right now with the concentration to improve. Drank with turkey soup with tomatoes, kale and wild rice.

Medium bodied, fully mature, the wine delivers a fresh, sweet, soft, round textured blast of earth, kirsch and licorice.
