Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.
As suggested by 90, outstanding. Not a hint of degradation or negative characteristics of aging. Perfect balance of sweet and acid, at least perfect for a Riesling.

It is pretty amazing what a few years has done to this wine. Expressive nose with citrus, white flowers and a hint of petrol, the sweetness on the palate has abated to no longer being noticable, but rather a subtle counterpoint to the acidity. Finish short to medium. We did not give this enough time to see if it would open with further aeration. 90-91

(J.J. Christoffel-Erben Erdener Treppchen Spatlese) Some slate and minerals, adequate acidity and a shortish finish. I haven't been thrilled with Chirstoffel since '01.(NOTE: Back on track in 2005 and 2006)

Note: I use the recommended scale, so 85 represents a very good wine.
A year later since the last and still outstanding. Tragically, my last of this specific bottle.

Nice wine, faint hints of petrol on the nose, lemony/citrusy Mosel acidity. This bottle seemed a bit less advanced/evolved than one opened last May

A Rainy, Fishy Mosel Meal (C Restaurant, Vancouver): Light yellow. Green apple and papaya. Pleasingly light, dry, crisp wine with a bit of petrol. Very nice, especially as a mouthwatering starter.
