A very fine expression of a Bordeaux blend, especially for Canada! It’s drinking very well at nine years, though it will hold up for a few more for sure. Dark cherry on the nose, with some vanilla and blackberry notes. Light/ medium tannin, with similar notes in the palate. Nothing too complex, but a reasonably long finish makes this a pleasing wine ( I paired it with blackened bison prime rib). It compares well with similarly priced French Bordeaux blends (Canadian pricing).

Aromatic and complex, tobacco, cedar, vanilla, red and black currant, and forest floor nose. Medium-bodied; great replays, elegant and well balanced. Long expressive finish. A fine expression in a Bordeaux tradition. 5/5

5 years old and still needs a few more years in the cellar. Big bold with significant tannins and a hint a green pepper. The Speck Family Reserve wines are a great treat especially with the Cabernet Merlot in my opinion.

Fruit just didn't seem ripe enough. I keep giving Ontario reds a shot, but none seem to cut it. Later vintages may offer more hope...
