  Great red plum flavors, not as stewed or prune-like as some have suggested. Some background notes of balsamic mixed in, along with that classic italian "smoke from burning leaves in fall" smoke meets earthy-funk, though this blows away after a few glasses. I have to think that the balsamic comes from the use of brettanomyces in the fermentation and if so it is very well controlled and integrated. Balanced and exceptionally food friendly acidity which pairs well with everything from cheese, red sauce, sausage and bread. Nice value at $17 which gets you a very unique and interesting wine that is easy drinking and can hold up to any dish you put in front of it. Only 12% abv as well, so drinking the whole bottle by yourself won't cause you to be a complete zombie in the morning.
