An attention grabber! Noticeably better than the winery's 2011 Grenache. It shows more depth, minerality, and is better concentrated. This wine is readily identifiable as a WA Rhone style blend, but it shows appealing Old World characteristics. More sophisticated and charming than bold; it shows great pepper notes, Mediterranean herbs (lavendar in particular), garrigue, Tuscan-like dusty minerality, and hints of sanguinity. This put my mind to Chapoutier's 2005 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Bernardine. An excellent value. Will have to try this blend from a better vintage.

Strawberry notes dominate but gain complexity with a sweet-earthy raw carrot flavor and a bit of caraway seed. Pleasantly delicious now but expect flavors to deepen with bottle age.

Similar to the pure grenache bottling but with a little darker fruit and a compliment of brambally, spicey goodness. Very lively and somewhat jumpy, so give it a little time to intergrate.

(Syncline Grenache-Carignan Columbia Valley) A moderately aromatic wine with notes of Dimetapp, celery stalk, wintergreen, and mineral. The palate is broad and flavorful, supple in feel with a lingering richness. Love the flavors and feel with some aromas that distract. 55% Grenache, 45% Carignan. Northridge, Alder Ridge, McKinley Springs, and Steep Creek Ranch vineyards. Aged 14 months in neutral French oak. 13.5% alcohol. 265 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.
