I wasn't looking forward to opening this. I had expected to smell sherry and then to quickly pour it down the sink. I was wrong. This was a surprise. The best bottle from the case? Perhaps. The nose was very nice, confident and focused with fruit and flowers and worth a few swirls. The palate and finish were okay but veering towards molasses or something similar. Overall a decent wine with a steak. 14.5% alcohol. Too much al-kee-hol for a mid-weeker. I had a bit of a headache afterwards. The bar at Selhurst Park must be lively if this is the house red.

Nose: Black fruits, black olive, cocoa, fig, prune, cranberry, lager. The palate has a pleasing softness with good texture and density. The finish is balanced. The nose has improved in the last few months (thankfully). Not a million miles from a 'pint of stout', the Guinness marketing team could sell large quantities of this.

Getting worse. Alcohol starting to show. Drink this year. Becoming only 'functional'.

This is starting to show its high alcohol for me. Was better when slightly chilled to ~18C. Still very nice for the price tag.
