  • Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah
    Bottle drunk over 4 days.
Clear, deep ruby color, very inky. Clean, medium+ intense and developing nose, easily detectable as a Syrah: Wonderful complex aromas of raw meat, spices, red and dark fruit, floral notes, minerals and smoke.
Dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ ripe and silky tannin. High alcohol (14,5%abv). On day one it shined a bit through and made the wine partially hot. On the following days with air the alcohol miraculously blended in and did not bother me anymore. Medium body with medium intense, lovely flavors of plum and other red fruit, some bloody notes (iron?), spices, violets and very fine oak in the background. Beautiful medium+ - long finish. Silky, velvet and lingering on the palate. I did not expect much from this wine, but was pleasantly surprised. Drinks well now with a little decant, but will continue to evolve for at least 5+ years and will than stay on this level for at least another 5+ years. 91-92. Very good PQR.
