2011 Les Saint Georges tasting: Probably the least of the wines here. An odd bouquet of dry earth and underbrush, with funky and flinty elements. Good weight and power but tasters complained of sulphides on palate. Rustic tannins, particularly on the finish. Quite earthy. Exhibiting a lot of winemaking, as one taster said. Perhaps, with hindsight, my Bronze was too generous. Me: Bronze. Group: No award 4 Bronze 7 Silver 0 Gold 0 = (7 score, rank 12/12)

Eye: Redish purple Nose: Herbaceous, green, fruit is hidden Palate: Huge funk, hint of dark fruit on the end with med+ acidity and firm tannins. Overall i am uncertain if this bottle was flawed or really just closed down and cranky! I will wait at a few years before trying another i strongly suggest you do as well. The producer makes great wines with clarity and my score reflects prior experience and optimism.

Decanted two hours. Tar, roses and berries on the nose. Full palate with dark fruits and leather, some pepper notes. Prominent tannin, good acid balance. Very strong effort, yet another 2011 that seems well built for aging.
