A really nice and primary Zin, worth what I paid, which was $20, and then some. Blackberry, some sweet tannin, little bit leafy in a nice way; good purple color. Finish was fairly long for a wine of this level. No complaints at all. Not as savory and complex as the older vine wine, but there's less expected in this nice field blend zin.

This definitely needed air. With an hour, it really opens up changing from dark fruit with awkward spice to a nice mixture of black fruit, spice and red fruit.

A nose of some dark fruit and spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied Zn, with blackberry, black cherry, red licorice and spice on finish. A good but not great Zin, just missing something. www.winelx.com

Well, I haven't gotten to the '11 Old Hill Ancient yet, but this is so far the best 2011 zinfandel I've had. Wild and intense briary spiciness and brambly raspberry fruit. Great balance between the fruit and spice elements. A highly enjoyable and distinctive wine.

(Bucklin Bambino Field Blend Old Hill Ranch) Medium dark red violet color; appealing, briary, tart berry, currant, charcoal nose; tasty, tart black fruit, charcoal, dried herbs, thyme palate; medium-plus finish 92+ points (picked earlier than the Ancient Field Blend, with no new oak)

Hmm. Seems more muted than my last bottle. Less fruit and spice.
