A little sweeter and more fruit-forward, and a little less briney, than the 2011 vintage. Also lacking the intensity and finesse of that vintage's bubbles. Still, this had the same vibrancy, balance, and overall deliciousness that I've come to love and expect from the Abissi. It performed admirably as an aperitif and paired well with a mushroom and taleggio pizza. I believe we snagged the last bottle from this restaurant's cellar. Bottle #1143. Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.

Still can't get over the idea that this is a gimmick. But none of the rest of the producers bottles are gimmicks so why would this one be. The juice inside was distinctive and wonderful, just couldn't get over the sea-shells on the outside. Maybe one to try again.

Dorks 6/18/13. Jesse's bottle. Almost clear. Ranier cherry and linear at first, good nose, develops minerality, coriander seed and some spice. Terrific mouthfeel. Excellent. Great story too: aged underwater, the tide riddles the bottles which emerge covered with sea-floor goop. This was one of only 24 bottles brought into the U.S. I love stuff like this!

This does not live up to the hype for me. It's a nice wine. Forgettable without the story behind it.
