No seepage at all although the cork was very soft. The color is still a dark burgundy without any signs of bricking. Still remarkably young and alive for a 50-year old. Nice complex tertiary flavor profile with stewed plums, mushrooms, barnyard, and green olives. Initially felt a bit thin but picked up considerable weight in the glass after 30 minutes. Long lingering finish.

In full tertiary development but still full of life and energy. A heavy dose of smoke and bacon on the nose. Salty dark berries with leather and mushrooms. A nice backbone of acidity and some ultra fine tannins in the background to hold it together in a medium frame. Medium to long lingering finish.

Healthy youthful color. Very ripe, ash and earth. The fruit is muted. Not really enjoyable.

DOA, the first bottle was sound and very good. No great wines only great bottles.

2016 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium - Kelly, Alan and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/3/2016-11/12/2016 (Villa D’este, Lake Como, Piedmont, Milan and Frankfurt): A recent auction purchase, the fill up to neck. Lively nose displaying old school cab nose, shy cherry fruit, plum, ash, tobacco, lead pencil and leather. Fully resolved palate, silky, a hint of ash and shy cherry fruit driven palate impression and a medium finish with lead pencil as the end note. With air, it actually gained weight. If you like the old school Californian cab, this may be a good one to source as long as the provenance is good.
