Tricky wine. Needs a lot of decanting. I can understand this wouldn't be popular to the Lodi lovers because this wine isn't jammy....at all. Not that it has to be (but a lot of us have come to expect it). Initially this wine was VERY acidic, and had kind of a "sugar syrup" taste on the palate right at entry. A disjointed nightmare. Decanted this one for about an hour and a half before I touched it again. Coming back to it was a MUCH better wine. On the front was a medium bodied wine, dark raspberry and overripe strawberry...and I even think I was getting a little tobacco, with a hint of red jam. The mid-palate is just downright elegant -- lots of raspberry, some fig, some oak barrel, some acidity, and still a little sweet. The finish showed some oak, some spice, but was dominated by some sweet slightly jammy raspberry. Very elegant, and I think actually a rather proper Zinfandel. I actually think that this one would probably do well with a few years of age, but wouldn't push it past 2017/18.

Pretty good for a Zinfandel. I would drink it again, but I would not seek it out.

Big nose, fruity and a bit perfumed, good acidity and length, will last 5 years, good stuff.
