  • Drank last nite at Pieros with the Gsteins. Pulled from the cellar and popped & poured. Wine showing wonderfully! Lovely nose of strawberries, ripe red cherries and some spice. Medium body, concentration of sweet red cherries and strawberries clearly evident right up front, along with a touch of spice and minerality particularly at the back end. Tannins mostly resolved--or just so silky smooth such that they're not particularly noticeable. Lovely long finish too. Soft and silky mouthfeel, quite an elegant pour if not particularly complex and a tad on the fruity side. Everyone loved the wine and it was quite delish indeed! Wish I had more...

  • Unsurprisingly, the 2012 Patricia Green Freedom Hill Coury Clone outperforms the following year's vintage. By 2021, its nose is muted, but the palate offers pretty red fruits, light spice, and an incredibly smooth mouthfeel. There's still structure; this isn't anywhere close to an overripe style. The folks at PG just know how to nail that perfect balance of pinot levity and grip. That said, I think I would have preferred to drink this wine 2-3 years ago, when I imagine its bouquet would have been more robust and its primary fruit profile would have done a better job of balancing the sharp acids that define the finish today. If you still have bottles, drink up! They likely only have a year or two left.

  • Somewhat disappointing in comparison with prior bottles all of which I rated 92 back in 2017-18. This bottle was slightly sharp-edged and bitter in comparison. Will not score as I don't think it is representative.

  • Decanted for 30 mins. Medium ruby color. Fantastic nose out of the gate with mixed cherries, pomegranate, strawberry, wet leaves and a hint of sweet baking spices. The fruit smells very pure and clean. Similar flavors on the palate with a nice balance of red fruit and earth/mineral terroir. Medium+ acid, medium tannin. Silky smooth mouthfeel and long finish. Bottle disappeared way too quick. Drinking great right now and probably will be in a nice window for a few years at least.

  • Drinking beautifully right now. Nose is subdued at this point in the wine's life cycle. Delicious red berries, minerality and silky smooth tannins still dominate on the pallet. But I'm not so sure this will make it to 2023 and still retain its current vitality. If you have this in your cellar recommend you enjoy it soon. So sad this was the last bottle in our cellar.
