  • Definitely dark for a rosé, this wine looks more like pale Pinot, a medium ruby with cherry tones and a thin rim with almost orange highlights. Recommended by a friend whose tastes occasionally align with mine, I was looking forward to trying this wine. Aromas are moderately pronounced and smell mostly like a sun warmed field of ripe strawberries, complete with leafy and earthy undertones.
On the dry side of silky as the juice hits the palate, this medium bodied wine matches the nose with hints of small, wild strawberries without being sweet, a pleasant acidity actually seems to underline the tannic structure giving this wine a little grip and allowing the finish to persist. Not overly complex or layered, the wine is pleasant overall with a finish that makes me think of the finish of a strawberry kombucha drink. Tasty and simple, with a balance of acid and tannin, as well as a pleasant lingering finish. Not the best QPR, it seems a touch high for what you get.
    4hr Update:
Much softer on entry, the wine has gained an additional layer of flavors. Now, herbal and garigue notes are interwoven with the wild strawberries, and the finish has taken on a light spicy note. I'd have to revise my previous QPR statement and say that this wine is a solid purchase and quite an interesting rosé.

  • Portland: The city of Rosés! (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): Very very dark, intense color for a Rose. Wild, feral aromas. Herbs; very thick smelling. Creamy and sweet palate. More herbs, but also mixed with lots of strawberry. Like a strawberry flavored fun dip. Creamy and soft texture. Quite tart on the finish, with really nice lingering intensity and flavors of cotton candy.
