bright purple color, crushed raspberries and sweet licorice on an unexpectedly elegant nose, on the palate lush ripe cherry and chocolate fruit, a bit of cola, berries, a bit of heat on the long dry finish, despite its slight excesses this was quite attractive in its way- in part due to the smooth and well grounded structure holding it all in place.
***+. ready to drink and time in hand.

Decanted for a few hours. Medium bouquet, with faint traditional Syrah elements. Well integrated and balanced, but the fruit was a bit thin. A decent food wine perhaps, but I was disappointed with the muted characteristics. Drink now.

HdR Opening Tasting: Nice to meet Paul in person. Inky purple. The nose has black raspberries, chocolate and slight tobacco which was interesting. Juicy acidity. Good intensity. Firm tannins. One of the riper 11's I have tried, but still not super ripe by any means.

On the down slope. Drink now. Still delicious full bodied Syrah. Looking forward to the ‘12s left in the cellar.

Definitely shows the red fruit immediately, on nose and palate. Some spice there too. Clearly shares some DNA with its cousins, the Paul Lato PNs...
