Last of the Brunellos from our ‘08 trip to Italy. Based on recent notes, it was time to pull the cork on this one. Although I agree this beauty wasn’t getting better, I don’t feel I missed the window either. Fruit had subsided some, to be expected for a 19 yr old bottle, but there was life in this. Went nicely with a rustic tomato pasta dish... bellissimo!

Enjoyed for Thanksgiving. Double magnum format. Wine in good form, but modest nose and fruit not as prevalent as 5 years ago. Smooth tannins. Overall a pleasant enough drink but not up to my expectations. My experience continues to be that Brunello is more enjoyable near age 10 than 20.

One-hour decant plus two hours of air time. Classic Brunello tone, nose and texture, this well-integrated wine showed hints of leather, vanilla oak and dried herbs around a slightly fading core of dark cherry, standing up for attention alongside Porterhouse for 2 at Quality Meats. Drink now and over next 5-7 years.
