Initially popped and poured, then in the decanter for an hour or so prior to drinking, drunk over a couple hours. Still quite a young wine, appearance, acid and tannin. Needs a good decant, a good 7 odd years to go maybe.

3rd Annual 7 Deadly Zins (well, about 15 this time) (Wayne's place in Darlinghurst): Vanilla, cherry, red berry and spice, slight red plum straying into umeboshi territory with a briny hint. Chocolate, plum and cherry with muted spice on the palate, talc textured tannins and juiciness. Best one of this vintage I've tried. In a very good spot for me.

2nd Annual 7 Deadly Zins tasting…well, 10 (My place, parramatta, sydney): Slight herbaceous notes then BBQ meat - almost charred burgers, tomato leaf, slight cream, smells rich, spicy. In the mouth the wine is juicy and savoury. A tight tannin hit, very slight vanilla essence, plummy hints, very well structured with broadness of palate without losing focus. Rather good but, arguably, lacks fruit.

Lovely stuff with a big steak! Loads of flavour and a full yet well balanced mouthfeel.better than our previous bottle. Opened up beautifully with air after 45 minutes. Crunchy acid starting to settle into the palate.

7 Deadly Zins…well, 8 (My place, parramatta, sydney): Red berry and plum with cherry notes, herbaceousness (eucalyptus?) spice and cream. In the mouth the wine has juicy acidity; almost zesty in fact, then muted red fruit - slightly unripe - followed by front of mouth and tongue coating tannins. Finishes a little short. Quite disappointing based on my previous tastings of other vintages
