  • Still a babe in the woods! I’m not following the comments about over the hill. This was young and alive! Ok maybe not young, but definitely alive and full of verve and energy. Soft on night two, with tannins essentially melted into the background. Food versatile and a cool old/young treat.

  • Was worried this might be over the hill. Not so, but decant and air are needed. At first there is some oxidation & Brett on the nose, but also prominent black fruit. The funk blows off somewhat with air and the wine smoothes out into more balance. At first the acid was overly prominent.
Otherwise a nice Bordeaux blend. Big mouthful of dark cocoa, with some green stemmy note, dark fruit, with some tannic structure remaining. A nice surprise.

  • A Bordeaux blend with 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 15% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot.
Deep garnet red and almost opaque core.
Pop n pour, showing an elegant nose of ripe blue fruits, slowly open up with plum, chocolate, vanilla and toasty oak.
Soft and round on entry, it has fresh and primary fruits on palate, along with blackcherry, plum, blackcurrant, blueberry, cedar, some dusty herbal notes and sweet toasty oak. Fine velvety tannins and lingering finish with peppery aftertaste.
This is a nice bottle, drinking lovely tonight and showing complex characters from a blend. Just lack of some wow factor to merit higher rating.

  • Prominent Brettanomyces influence here, which for me took away from what otherwise would have been a glorious bottle of wine. Nice fruit backbone, otherwise aged well.

  • Opened another bottle 8 months later, and drank it over 2 days, alongside with a bottle from the 2013 vintage. The 2010 vintage showed beautifully, the fruit evolved into a dark warm rich cassis and sour cherry palate, with silky tannins, and a well integrated acidity. It was mouth filling, but not overpowering or jammy: just the right balance between fruit and structure. The 2013 version excluded the Merlot, and increased the Malbec percent. It was still young and tight.
