70s and 80s Barolo and Barbaresco Blind (Berkeley): Group's #3; my #4; 0 first; 5 second; 4 third; 0 last. Aromas and flavors of roses, meat, and cherries. Balanced, smooth, and soft with a medium finish.

The cork fell apart when I tried to open this bottle, but I decanted it through a coffee filter, and it showed no ill effects. Amazingly consistent (considering the age) with the previous bottle I had of this. This wine has been my only experience with old Barolo, but if it's at all indicative, wow!

First Tuesday Wine Group Annual Dinner. This wine had a classic Barolo nose, with rose petal, some exotic spices, and a hint of barnyard. Very lively and full on the palate, with some smoke, cedar, and an interesting bacon flavor. It was fully mature, but was still perfectly balanced by bright acidity. The finish just went on and on. It was fascinating to watch this incredibly complex wine evolve in the glass and develop different nuances.

Tired and stinky. Better once first opened and this saw too much time in the decanter (which usually helps and does not hurt old Barolo in my view).

Post Election ""Drink Your Mood" Tasting...No Orange Wine (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Somewhat dirty and clearly past its peak, this was undoubtedly once interesting and enjoyable.
