  • Nineteeneightytwo's review is spot on, but to me it merits a higher score due to the complexity and balance. This wine was a surprise to me. I randomly picked it up from a wine shop because it looked like it might be good. I love this trend of dark Spanish wines being made new-world style with dense extraction, in-your-face tannins, and bright acidity. The tannins are dusty/chalky, the palette is dark-fruity, and it has layers of complexity and a medium to long finish. I didn't decant, but I did notice that it got better the longer it breathed in my glass. More patience would probably be rewarded. On night two, this is just as good.

  • Opaque rosewood color. Aromas of bramble, ripe blackberries, dried ginger, and shoe leather. The palate is brooding, with black fruit accented by abrupt tannins. Initially this seemed a little too Internationally-styled for my liking, but some air allowed a more subtle range of flavors to show through. I'm inclined to wait a few years for my next bottle, and would advocate for 2+ hours of decanting if you'd like to enjoy this now.
