A day tasting in the Applegate Valley (Applegate Valley, Oregon): Grenache and Syrah. Only 12.8% alcohol, but there's lots of heft to the aromas, showing tar and funk. Pretty soft, mellow palate, with a pleasing vibrant strawberry streak. Nice fruit carries into the finish as this finishes lighter than the nose hinted.
