Transparent crimson, almost brick red but fresh on the nose and explosive on the palate with juicy red berry and plum fruit balancing out the 15.2% alcohol. Flawless.

This is really coming along well. Past the crazy Zin stage and not quite at the Bordeaux stage. Drinking very well but no hurry. Lots of red fruits. Some oak showing. Slight tannins. It has a long life left depending how you like them.

This bottle (drunk alongside the 2015) seemed a bit shut down. I have never felt like Zin shuts down but it did improve with air/coaxing. Ruby in color. In style, these are more of the "Bordeaux" styled Zins from California (although this is from Oregon). The nose shows cherries, and some raspberries with a bit of oak. On the palate, this is medium bodied. Cherries and dark cherries with some spice. Not as flamboyant as the 2015 but that is to be expected but in terms of drinking, I would want to check in on these sooner than later, just to be safe.

This is always one of my favorite Zins. It comes from the Northwest from a vineyard that goes back to the early parts of last century, so the profile is somewhat unique. Purple in color but with some ruby swirls. On the nose, black cherries, spice and slight herbal note. More restrained and concentrated than a typical Cal Zin. Lots of depth but plenty of black cherry fruit. More deep than wide if that makes sense. Good finish. Still lots of life left.

Tasted at a Sineann tasting party with the vintner put together by Loren Sonkin. NO detailed notes taken. This felt very reserved for a Zin: still plenty of fruit, but good acidity and showing a great deal of complexity, more earthiness than usual at this age in particular. Loved this already, with age should be a great Zin. Was able to find 5 bottles in the area which I jumped on the next day (left a few for others at the party since they were also looking for some, perhaps I shouldn't have!). Really happy he found and resurrected this vineyard.
