  More intense than the 2012 at this point. That said, it still drinks more "Bordeaux" like. Ruby in color. The nose has cherries, and some cassis note. Also a bit of pepper. On the palate, this has a nice ripeness but is not a big styled Zin. More about red fruits. Nice depth and texture. Good finish. Really enjoyable right now, but needs a year or two to unwind a bit more.

  Wines with Friends (and Game 4) (Chris and Renee's): Recent release. Glass cork. This vintage appears to be above average. There is little Zin in the northwest and this vineyard is around 100 years old which is very special. Purple in color. The nose has bramble, clay, cherries, dark cherries and spice. On the palate, this is very deep but not wide if that makes sense. Of course with time, it will open. Right now, there is a lot of dark cherry fruit. Good acidity. Very tight wound together. Opened late, I suspect it is better today if there was any left. I like Zin young as a general rule (there are exceptions), but this needs a year at least IMO.
