Rich full gold colour. Big on the nose with lots of vanilla/oak dominating almost anything else, perhaps a hint of pineapple just sneaking through. The big buttery oaky notes continue on the palate, but with a bit more fruit coming through, peach and maybe a little pineapple. A little lacking in acidity initially, but coming through nicely on the long finish. Overall not a bad wine, very classic Californian chardonnay, a bit obvious but still quite pleasant. Not particularly easy to drink, but interesting and has stood the test of time very well.

Very California in style, but refined in the characteristics. Orchard and citrus fruit combine with barrel notes to deliver a soft, creamy, not-too-buttery warm climate Chard with subtleties and complexities like grilled hazelnuts, honey, and flint. Play off the creamy notes with anything from buttered popcorn to clam chowder to seafood Alfredo.

Nice chardonnay with green apple and some malolactic. Oak in the background. Big mouth feel. Smooth and ready to drink now. Stands up to a seared, blackened tuna and roasted summer veggies.

With chicken parmison and roasted potatoes. Nice grapefruit nose. Yellow/gold and clear. Smooth medium weight (for a white), balanced oak and acid, citrus/grapefruit on the palate, nice length.

We thought the Arroyo OK but not as good as the regular J. Lohr Chardonnay. Don't waste the money for the pretty label.
