Definitely agree on this being a steak wine. Big, round, and volumptuous, there is a wave of sturdy black fruit with just a touch of sweetness. Despite this being matured in French oak, there is more than a touch of vanilla I associate with American oak, but this may be the warm ripeness of the fruit than anything else. Very silky and moreish, if perhaps lacking in place or character. Tannins are fully integrated - definitely one to drink now.

Really impressive showing, especially for a much maligned vintage in Sonoma. Lovely bouquet. Cherries, cassis, and dark fruit atop tomato leaf, licorice, and a whiff of chocolate. The palate is youthful, savory, and old school in style, with blackberry fruit, tar, leather, and gravelly minerality. Finishes long, textured, and layered. Great now and not going anywhere anytime soon.

Beautiful Bordeaux blend! Nice depth with dark berries, plum, leather. Medium tannins. Lingering, soft finish. Paired beautifully with earthy cheeses as appetizer. Can’t wait to taste it with porterhouse steak for dinner tonight.
