Fresh and vibrant. Nice violet and floral aromas. Brick red. Smooth tannins still holding some grip. Dark fruit flavor softened over time. Nicely done.

I am pleasantly surprised how good this bottle is! Reading the reviews I was worried I waited too long. This has been in my cellar for many years. Excellent! It has a lot of life yet. Decanted an hour. Big rich mouth feel, lingering soft tannins. Cassis, blue fruits and berries. Very special elegant wine.

I was really looking forward to this wine and had high hopes for it.
Decanted the wine for 1 hour prior to serving. The nose is very elegant on this wine, lots of tertiary characteristics - menthol, dried figs, eucalyptus, but still showing dark blackberries, raspberries, and hints of leather. It pours an incredibly dark ruby red. The palate (at least for me) was the biggest let down. Tannins are well integrated at this point, it is smooth, but also flat. The best way I can describe it is this: you are really looking forward to having a soda, you find a bottle in the refrigerator, you don't know how long its been there, but you open it anyway, it has lost its fizz and when you taste it - its flat, such a let down!
That is how I describe this wine. I can tell the winemaker and the Mondavi family really tried with this wine. Its big, bold, seems to be well made. But the palate it unremarkable, unmemorable, and did not feel special. Minimal taste on the palate. Maybe it was just me, maybe it was the bottle I had, or maybe it really is lacking.
Reading these other reviews looks like people have differing opinions on this wine, I was hoping to be really positive, but will leave it at 89. Have 2 more bottles left - will see if they treat me any differently.

A year since the last bottle, drank this one in honor of my daughter’s 10th bday. Much better than last year, has reached a perfect drinking window. The tannins are smooth and the fruit is restrained but present as red berries and cassis, tobacco and faint leather on the palate. If it wasn’t a special vintage for us I might be disappointed by the QPR, but if you can forget the price it is a very nice wine.

Opened my last bottle. It has aged beautifully. Very delicate. My notes from last year still hold true today. Very nice bottle of Napa Cab!
