While its a little odd to add syrah to an otherwise Bordeaux blend, it made for a unique enjoyable wine. PRV must have agreed that it was odd, this was the only Tessitura that was made this way (this was the first vintage, all subsequent ones were all Merlot based Bordeaux blends). Dark brooding nose, and a definite syrah peppery influence in the palate. Tannins still evident but not overpowering. If you approach it with the right mindset, you will enjoy it.

Similar experience to Charmstone, overtly smokey aromas on opening that don't readily dissipate after decanting. Mild remaining affect, moderate fruit / berry flavors, medium body with some sharp tannin edges. Medium finish with decent fruit to the end. May benefit from MUCH longer decanting, > 2hrs advised.

Really like this. Nice grip, plenty of tannins for another five years. Cocoa nibs, very ripe plums. Beautiful texture. Very silky.
