  • I liked my prior bottle significantly more than this one, although there is plenty of pure fruit going on. I'm getting some moderately spicy, almost dilly new oak. I'm wondering whether there might have been a new barrel introduced in this vintage. I don't think these guys use barrique, and I wouldn't say this is overoaked, just noticeable to this reactionary palate.

  • Delicious. In a perfect place to enjoy. Great acidic spine. Notes of cigar box tinged with sour cherry fruit, with the fruit tones subtly shifty from red to dark. An exciting relatively new entrant to the Chianti scene and becoming one of my favorites!

  • American owned Chianti estate (Schmelzer family), adherent to old-school methods.

Balanced red fruit tones, dominated by tart cherry and spices. Well restrained alcohol levels, contributing to the overall impression of harmony.
Sangiovese (95%) with a touch of Canaiolo Nero (5%). 2yrs in large cask followed by 1yr in bottle before release. Nice earthy rusticity, traditional style. Upon opening, somewhat tight and restrained, significantly improving the next day after generous slo-ox.

A well-made example of an honest Chianti Classico - one of the best on the market. From CSW.
