Starts with cherries and a bit of soot; medium bodied with flavors of red and dark berry, plenty of acidity (slightly rough), and a cough syrup tinged finish. A nice wine with reasonable QPR.

On the nose, dusty cherries and plums, tobacco, some charcoal and green peppercorns. Fine tannins on the palate, some moderate acid and bold fruit (black cherries, blackberries, all sorts of plums), it all combines and to form a wine with a rich and creamy texture. Dusty and loamy notes blend in with vanilla, spicy oak and red bell pepper. It’s not often I taste a Chalk Hill Cabernet, and, while this isn’t a profound one, I’m impressed.
