Consistent black colour with a thin hue. Strong aroma of aniseed, dark berries, pencil shavings and some varnish. Plum, blackcurrant, eucalyptus. Tannin is fine and well integrated. Acidity though is bit high, leading to a sour flavour at the end. Was smoother on the first night.

Singapore Airlines - Business & Lounges; 6/22/2015-6/26/2015 (Sydney, Singapore, Frankfurt): {screwcap, 14%} Classic, big, chocolate/red berry vale shiraz. Despite the massive nose, the palate isn’t really more than medium weight. It does start with a load of ripe blackberry flavours and spiciness, with soft oak. It does taste a bit entry-level, having no real depth or length to the finish, but it does its best to make an initial impact. A more impressive nose than its Riggs Gaffer co-servee, but perhaps a lesser palate. Soft acid, gentle gritty tannins; drink up.

{screwcap, 14/5%} Coconot, vanilla, eucalypt; this is close to the McLaren Vale shiraz from Central Casting. Big and rich, but with soft acid and rather mild chalky tannins. Ripe blackberry fruits, all warm-climate accented, but with the alcohol seemingly under control, still it's a style I think drinks best fairly young, given the structural deficits and the shortish finish, despite a medium/full-bodied weight.
