Impenetrable purple-black. Powerful, primary nose of violets, black currants and blueberries. Plush, primary and velvety palate of ripe dark fruit and fine powdery tannins. Weighing in at only 13%, this feels very luxuriant. The product of a warm vintage in a cool region. Day 2 (after a night in the fridge) - looking much more like the wine tasted at the cellar door. Fruit has softened with more interesting savory and earthy (ferric) complexities coming through. If drinking now give a good decant. (91 Very good wine)

Dominating DMS, charcoal, crushed samphire, blackcurrant, white pepper, grainy drying tannins, good tang and progression, spice, molasses. Good

(tasting@Lethbridge) [75% merlot] Blackcurrants, leafy fresh violets, chewy, with hint blood orange. Tall tannins, stemmy with powdery perfume.
