Medium ruby red in appearance. An interesting nose with some greenery, dried herbs, red cherries and light baking spices. Medium tannins (5/10) and medium bodied. A bit of cocoa on the palate with some earthiness, tart cherries and a touch of dark berries. Medium length finish. Drink now.

Drank with a marinated flank steak. This is a beautiful deep purple wine with a big berry cherry nose. In balance and drinking well now, but wouldn't ba problem to age further. Fruit (black cherry and raspberry) forward, a bit of licorice and moderate tannins. Lengthy smooth finish. Bigger and bolder than the Red Willow Vineyard bottle used at the same dinner.

2011 Fall Line Single Vineyard Horizontal Tasting (The Lovenest, Seattle, WA): Did a horizontal tasting of the 2011 Fall Line Boushey, Artz, and Red Willow Vineyard Red Wines. The Artz was definitely the biggest and boldest of the three, and while the most balanced would probably need food to shine. Black cherry and red plum dominate the nose and palate, and while the highest alcohol of the three, it wears it the lightest. Very little obvious oak influence but with big bold fruit, tannin, and acid this wine either needs a bit of time or a steak to tame it. It was an early favorite but the intensity was high enough people started to gravitate away after a little while.

last bottle. agree with prior notes, as really nice balanced blend, at this point a bit more herbal with cocoa notes

Cassis, blackberry bramble, black cherry, cedar and menthol. Additionally rosemary in the mouth. Acidic and bitter. Might still be on the young side.
