Medium dark cherry red color; Cab Franc-like, baked bell pepper, stems nose; tight, stemmy, very tart cranberry, tart red berry, green bean casserole palate with medium acidity; needs 4-5 years; medium-plus finish (13% alcohol)

Storm Wines in a Snowstorm (Washington, DC): Medium ruby color. Bright aromas of cranberry sauce, ripe cherries and a medley of earthy and herbal notes (black and white pepper, sage, tobacco). Very spicy and exotic aromas. Black cherry and raspberry fruit, ripe but fresh. I love the fine tannins and freshness from the acid. Notes of clove, cola and pepper add complexity. With 30% new oak and 13% alcohol, this is a well-structured and open wine, but it maintains subtlety and nuance. Long, rich finish. Could develop quite a bit over the next two or three years.
