  • Late night at home. Enjoyed over 2 days. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is not clear - with visible scattered sediment floaters, pale intensity, yellow gold colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of candied cream peach, ripe citrus lemon, lightly baked golden apple, white chocolate toffee. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet candied cream peach, ripe citrus lemon, lightly baked golden apples, white chocolate toffee, lingering bits of roasted nuts and honey toast and a bit of weathered stones minerality. Sense of lingering smokiness also to the long finish.
Very good quality. Complexity. Sense of balanced roundness. Drinking at peak already. Don't keep longer.

  • The nose is expressive of minerals, bruised apple and vanilla. Its texture is initially rich, powerful and viscous. Very full-bodied and concentrated. Dense structure with a long finish. The initial palate shows flavors of crème brulee, bruised apple, minerals and orange rind. A rich dense wine. However, after about an hour, the wine really came together. The richness subsided and the wine started to show more elegance, with more pronounced minerality. This wine started out of the gate a bit disjointed but really blossomed into a very good Puligny. Drink now with an hour decant.

  • Afternoon Drinks: An attractive wine – this was a rather ripe, forward expression of the Folatieres terroir. It had a pretty nice nose, with cream and ripe yellow fruit aromas seasoned with a little touch of exotic spice. It felt ripe on the palate too, with sunny flavours of pineapple and sweet red apples wed to toasty tones of brioche, cream biscuits and roasted nuts. I would have said that this was a bit too modern and overworked if not for the nice clean feel and balance it had, along with a good minerally undertone driving through the sweet fruit and toasty tones and into a long finish. While quite approachable and very pleasant now, it is still clearly in its infancy – this should improve quite nicely over the short to medium term.
