  • shared with pat at selkirk manor. celebrating surviving another week during COVID pandemic. i have not been happy with this wine from the outset. should have enjoyed shortly after purchase. totally unrealistic to expect a vire-clesse to last this long. tonight the wine is golden color and slightly oxidized. still offers some fruit but is definitely singing its last hurrah. i strongly urge those still holding bottles to drink up.

  • shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate surviving another week during the pandemic. this wine has been ready to drink for some time as indicated by previous tasting notes posted by myself and other ct members. i have not been entirely happy with bottles that i tasted previously. i have been holding on the this bottle for sentimental reasons and in accord with my irrational hope that the wine might improve. fortunately, this bottle showed a little better. paired well with beer battered cod and boiled potato. golden color. citrus notes with a hint of caramel. enjoyable but probably not at its best. should have enjoyed the robustness of this wine earlier on. will drink the remaining bottle during the first quarter of 2021.

  • shared with pat at selkirk manor. last tasted Christmas 2016. i was not entirely happy with the wine then. tonight, the wine shows dark golden color suggesting that it is far along in its developmental trajectory. still, it is remarkably alive in the context of being seven years past the vintage. the wine shows mostly citrus flavors without the stone minerality that i usually associate with wine from this region. lacking charm and complexity. as such, i have to say that it is not one of my favorites from vire-clesse. based on progression of scores over time from other CT members, it appears that this wine was intended to be enjoyed young and presented best a few years after the vintage. will drink remaining bottles soon.

  • brought to Elena's for Christmas Dinner. Shared with pat and ellen. other guests did not show any interest. this bottle seemed closed and austere. lots of lemon, lime and acid. have to say this is not one of my favorites from vire-clesse as wines from this area usually show more charm and personality. am hoping that it is simply in a dumb phase and that it will open up more a year or two down the road.

  • Lemon notes, fresh, light body but not watery. Notes of lime and citrus in the nose and throughout structure. Great acidity. Excellent finish.
