  Second 2012 vs. 2013 vertical-on-vertical. Initially, Vincent's 2013's really give the lie to the whole 12/13 dichotomy: his 13's were gorgeously successful, and in our first vertical vs. vertical tasting managed to beat the 12's hands down.
  
  This time around the 2012's were so much more alive. Preferring the 2013's seemed suddenly like an act of willful contrarianism -- because these are gorgeous, interesting things. They're not over-ripe, or boringly full-fruited -- even if by comparison with the 13's, they are way fruitier, way rounder, way fuller, way less astringent. They're ready for you. They'll last another 5-7 years for sure, but they're accepting reservations now.
