As with lot's of cheap wine my expectations were so low that I couldn't be anything else than positively surprised. Still smells cheap, but with a clear pinot character and even a slight complexity. The fruit is were the problem lies, very synthetic cherries, strawberries and raspberries. But on top of this there is a spicyness, clove and black pepper. There's a freshness as well, but unfortunately more like menthol cigarettes. Very fruity palate, but with a good acidity and to my big surprise there is even some tannins. No length nor concentration to speak of, but doesn't feel hollow.
This is not a great wine, maybe not even a good wine, but it has character and it has structure which is more than most wines in this price-range ($5) can claim.

On the nose: cherries, vanilla and some spice. To the taste: black cherry, currant but thin and tart with a bit of oak. There's better out there, even at this price ($5). Perhaps this will improve with age.

This is plonky plonk. Previous vintage they released in Yokohama was a high quality plonk.
Best component in this wine is the PN bitter tinge in the finish.
Most wanting is the almost complete lack of structure for the sweet fruit, jam and grape juice to have a chance to shine.
2nd and last btl of this vintage.

Sweetened grape juice without any kind of satisfaction other than not sporting unusual or foul aromas...
Give me more of 2012!
