  • Tasted blind at Bacchus. Purple hue with farmyard and funky notes with straw, mud, a bit of poo, smoke, charcoal, roasted meat, bacon and black fruit. So the nose is complex but the palate doesn't quite deliver the same variety. There's sharp red and black fruit, tannins present but soft and integrated and quite a long finish. An interesting and enjoyable wine.

  • A friend gave me this and was intrigued to open it as I'm not familiar with the producer or many of the wines of Montenegro. Deep ruby colour. Nose of blackberry and raspberry with a faint whiff of manure. The palate is smooth with good acidity, predominantly sweet blackberry fruit and a hint of raspberries plus some pepper. Very enjoyable.

  • At $7-11, this is a very good QPR for a daily drinker, a house wine or for a party. This is a modern European style, medium-body wine with everything in moderation: extraction, tannin, acid, and alcohol, all in a nice overall package of smoothness and balance. It lacks personality, but otherwise is very nice.

  • The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like meaty, horsey and flint. It tastes like black currant (cassis), cherry, flint, bark, black pepper and black olive. The body is medium/full. The wine has coarse texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.

A wine with little fruit or residual sugar, ending on sourness. Demands food, strong flavours and/or fatty stuff, and demands respect from the food in the mouth.

A good wine. Would like to try again in its native country alongside the native food.

  • Pure blackberry fruit on the nose. Quite a plump easy drinking style, there is a little bit of tannin but the palate is quite soft and dominated by the sour cherry fruits and a little vanilla oak character that lingers at the back of the palate. Simple but enjoyable.
